Robocode

A programming game in which you build robot tanks that fight each other in an arena. The classic version has been around since 2001, and Robocode Tank Royale is its newer successor.
How you code
You write a bot as a program that reacts to events, such as scanning an enemy or getting hit, and decides how to move, aim and shoot. Classic Robocode uses Java; Tank Royale supports several languages. Battles run on their own, and you improve the bot between battles.
